4- Week Summer Sizzler Challenges

10lb. Summer Sizzler Team Challenge

During the month of July each team member is challenged to sizzle away 10lbs. of body fat for their team. On July 29, 2007, the day of the final weigh-in, the team to lose the most will win the Team Challenge. To up the ante, the person on the opposing team with the corresponding number found next to your name is your personal challenger (ie. if you're on Team A and 2 is next to your name, the person on Team B who has 2 next to their name is your personal challenger). Weigh-in Rules: Your reported weight should be from an actual scale reading, not an averaged number. Post your weight for the scheduled weekly weigh-in on the Challenge Central's blog for that specific day. Please take notice that the Team Captains will not search for your weight on your personal blogs. Dates to report your weekly weigh-ins are Sundays: July 1, 2007, July 8, 2007, July 15, 2007, July 22, 2007, and July 29, 2007.

Run-Time Productivity (Heart Healthy)

Run for time not distance. To become an efficient runner one must learn to pace themselves. By working on decreasing your running time you will without fail increase your pace (speed) and even your distance in the process -making you a better runner. The challenge will therefore be to decrease your running time by a minimum of 20% by the end of the challenge. The set distance for the challenge will be 1 Mile. (ie. if your starting 1 Mile run-time is 10 minutes, your goal will be to decrease your run-time by 2 minutes - finishing the challenge with your 1 Mile run-time at 8 minutes). Submit your starting 1 Mile run-time to the moderator for recording. The person(s) with the highest percentage decrease wins this category. For accuracy: the same course, incline setting, program (random, interval, hill, manual) is to be used for the entire challenge. On your mark, get set, GO! For those who are not yet able to run 1 mile you're still invited to join. Walking more and increasing your cardiovascular health will eventually lead you to be able to be that runner that you aspire to be.

Week 2

We should all be proud of ourselves for our weight loss accomplishments, up to and including today. Losing weight ain't easy, or nobody would be overweight! Don't forget, even as we compete, that we are really competing with ourselves, working toward becoming better men & women, who make healthy decisions and enjoy life.

Tip for the Week: drink up! Some fitness professionals recommend 4 ounces of water per 15:00 of exercise, and drinking half of your body weight in water. I know that's a lot of water, but being hydrated is an important component of weight loss, so chug a lug!

See below for the competition stats as of today. Have a good week everybody. Happy weight loss!
